—Bug Tribe Leader, through the narration of Dr. Mala |
The Bug Tribe is one of the main seven tribes competing in the Running Man Games as well as the home tribe of Liu and Shan.
A nation that boasts cutting-edge technology, the Bug Tribe is an agriculture nation with advanced technology that bears resemblances to that of the industrial revolution. Due to their kind and peaceful nature, the Bug Tribe is known to cause little conflict, making them a rather passive tribe.
Origin[]
Through Liu's story, it's said that the Bug Tribe used to live in an unlivable wasteland until the God of Earth came to their aid, making their land flourish [1] and sooner causing the Tribe to be known for their farming skills due to their flourishing land.
Historically, they were known as one of the main tribes to participate in the Materion War, using their advanced technology to try and take the fruit of the soul tree for themselves before eventually coming up with a peace treaty with rest of the tribes and developing the Running Man Games.[2] They were later known as one of the six tribes who aided in the revolution against the Leo Tribe.[3]
According to the Complete Encyclopedia, their science and technology arose as a result of overcoming many difficult natural conditions for farming in such a barren land, resulting in the establishment of a high-tech research city and the world's largest farm, eventually leading to the country's reputation as a farming nation.[4]

Physical Description[]
The only known species of the bug tribe are grasshoppers, who are green skinned insects with strong legs and long, thin antennas attached to their head.
In terms of fashion, their clothing appear to be modern adaptations of the steampunk style of the twentieth century, with metal components inserted on Liu's hood resembling popular steampunk goggles, and Liu and Shan's suit in general being similar to that of an aviator suit from the steampunk era.

Though not much is known about the Bug Tribe, It is said that they are kind-hearted, making them less likely to cause harm to others intentionally.[5]

Trivia[]
- Despite their high-end technology, the Bug Tribe is a nation of agriculture. Which actually make perfect sence, because industrial-era agriculture is much more efficient than pre-industrial one; artificial fertilizers, agricultural machinery and scientifically-breed crops produce several orders of magnitude more yields from the same amount of land.
- From the few glimpses we've seen of the setting of the Tribe and through Liu and Shan, it seems that the Bug Tribe's aesthetic is loosely based off a modern iteration of the industrial revolution of the 18th century and the Steampunk Era that followed.
