—Popo |
Popo (Korean: 포포 [rom. Popo]) is a Peng Tribe representative who joined the competition in order to get fame and fortune. Throughout the show, he is mostly seen with Lonky. While they do have the same interests, they are often seen to be at odds with eachother when things don't go as planned.
As a wizard from the Peng Tribe, he uses his tarot cards as his main weapon, though they almost always never work.
Physical Description[]
Popo is a small anthropomorphic penguin with cobalt blue feathers a white underbelly. He has light orange eyebrows and a light orange beak. his eyes are small black upturned lines which become large and round when he is trying to look cute and pose for photos. His hair goes up in an ice cream-like shape on top of his head.
He wears an orange onesie with white strings and orange aglets as well as green, yellow, and brown lines at the end of his sleeves as well as a matching orange belt containing his cards. He also sports a pair of silver glasses.
Background[]
Not much is known about him and his tribe other than the fact that he joined the competition for self-serving purposes; choosing to compete for fame and fortune rather than to actually help his tribe.
This character is based on Haha.
Personality[]
Popo, during the beginning is shown to be a self-serving, prideful, and selfish person. When working with others, he is known to be fairly cooperative, yet gullible, as shown when he was tricked by Lonky during one of the games after falsely accusing Liu to be a traitor.
He is also shown to be quite knowledgeable. A great example of this was when he came up with a plan to get Liu in good spirits after finding out about his sister's fate,[1]as well as when he quickly found out, with Liu's help, that DV2's main goal was protecting the high ground instead of taking their shields.
Abilities and Equipment[]
Abilities[]
- Card Magic - Popo is often shown throughout the series to be a wizard, having the natural ability to control the elements using his cards. A great example of his proficiency was when he used a powerful card to reverse time.
- Strategist - Though rarely shown, Popo is a pro strategist. A great example of this was when he figured out his cutting cards were able to cut through Valter's 'unbreakable' strings and devised a plan to distract Valter while simultaneously freeing the Running Men from his grasp[2].

In many episodes, they schemed and back-stabbed the others together while in others, they are shown to deeply care for each-other, with both of them being extremely happy every-time they reunite with each other. At the end of season one, Popo was distraught when Lonky died after saving him.[3] When Popo turned into a baby, Lonky was the one who took care of him till Pala turned him back.[4]
Kuga[]
Popo regards Kuga as a terrifying person to be with, refusing to get on his bad side because of his intimidating stature but after finding out about his giant pink paws, he started loosening up around him, even going as far as to tease him sometimes. Kuga meanwhile, feels neutral about him. While Kuga does get annoyed at Popo's antics, he is shown to rarely use his fists against him unprovoked.
